About TOUR DE HOKKAIDO

Tour de Hokkaido, sanctioned by International Cycling Union (UCI), is the full-scale town-to-town style cycle road stage race held on public road among Hokkaido’s magnificent natural beauty.
This event aims to contribute to provide an opportunity for young riders striving for the world stage, to serve as an arena for training young promising riders as well as developing a wide range of personnel involved with cycle road races in Japan.
The tour takes place in northern and eastern Hokkaido including 21 municipalities (4 cities and 17 towns) over 3 stages. In contrast to the picturesque beauty of Hokkaido’s magnificent pastoral scenery, Mt. Daisetsuzan ranges and Mt. Tokachidake mountains along the route, the race development is expected to be very tough because of the mixed terrain with mountainous (elevation gain: 5,416m) and flat area. The detailed team strategy will be the key to the victory.
